Ragnheiður loves Yoshitomo Nara - レイキャヴィーク キュートで奇妙な彼女の結び目 第5回

There was a shelf with many tiny goods in Ragnheiður's living room. She likes to collect these small things since when she was small. They were not something expensive, but miscellaneous things such as pencils or erasers. And what she lines up in her current room is not different from then. She collects something like Icelandic stones with unusual color, some souvenirs from overseas and so on.

In her room, things caught our eyes were products from Japan. On the shelf, there was a set of black and white maneki-neko (welcoming cat) and a small Dharma doll. Many Japan-related design booklets were also in the book shelf. She loves Japanese contemporary art and design products. She has a book that introduces these products from a kitchen cleaner to a instant fried noodle. For Japanese people, they are very ordinal and not interesting but each one of them is lovely and exciting for her. Actually she had visited Japan with her husband before.

She raised Yoshitomo Nara and Takashi Murakami as her favorite Japanese artist. Something cute and weird - “kawaii” things keep her mind and they inspire her design or her playful mind. We could tell, for example, Nara’s drawings fit her taste. Panda, who got slept on the side of the husband after running around for a while, should be same. She is bit spooky, but that is her cuteness.
